#8: The Future of Fashion

So as you know, your parents wore completely different outfits when they were teens and your clothes are obviously stylish and current, but it won't always be that way. Recently, I started reading a book called The Evolution of Fashion by Florence Mary Gardiner, and a particular quote stuck out to me:

"Fashions that are now called new,
 Have been worn by more than you;
Elder times have used the same,
Though these new ones get the name." ~Middleton's "Mayor of Quinborough"

Basically, fashion from "back then" has been popping up in everyday clothes, along with the bright colors like neons. But instead of recognizing where they came from, we label it as "The latest fashion trend" even though the better phrase would be "The latest recycled fashion trend." So then I started thinking. Is this how our fashion will be in 20 years? Soon all the clothes we wear today will be forgotten and taken apart to make "Future Fashion." Hmm, if our parents think we dress crazy now, then in 20 years....

Anyways, I encourage you all to try at least skimming through The Evolution of Fashion by Florence Mary Gardiner.

Email me all your thoughts on what the fashion of the future might be!

#7: Fashion Worldwide/ Regret and Recommend

привет, Hallo, Xin chào, Salut!

Those are 4 different ways to say "Hello" in some other countries. Today, I checked my statistics for the audience I was bringing in, and I noticed that people from Russia, Germany, Mexico, and Indonesia have been reading my blog. That's when it struck me. In order to appeal to other countries, I have to write about their type of fashion as well. So soon I will start a series called, "Fashion Worldwide," where I post about the latest fashion trends from somewhere other than America.

Also on the agenda, I would like to speak to you about SHAMPOO! I know, kind of a strange topic, but its pretty relevant. So after my latest beauty haul, I decided to experiment with shampoo and other hair products to see which worked best on my hair. I bring Regret and Recommend!

1. VO5 Herbal Escapees Clarifying Shampoo.
Instead of controlling the oil in my hair, it dried out my scalp and made it itchy and hard to manage.
REGRET!

2. Garnier Fructis Fortifying Shampoo.
I really fell in love with this product because it kept my hair soft and clean. I later bough Garnier Fructis Fortifying Conditioner which really conditions my hair and makes it really soft. RECOMMEND!

3. Equate Detangler Spray.
This product is great and it detangles wet and dry hair. When I wash my hair, I use a detangler afterwards, and this product works very well. It also smells great and it sprays the perfect size mist onto your hair. RECOMMEND!

I hope you enjoyed my mini reviews, and I will get back to you with more info on Fashion Worldwide!

до свидания, Auf Wiedersehen, tạm biệt, Au revoir, Goodbye!

#6: London 2012 Olympic Ceremony

Sorry for the lateness recently. I've been caught up in writing great posts and forgot to actually post them. This post is a tad bit overdue, but no worries, you'll probably still enjoy it.

Anyways...

On July 27th @ 8:00pm, London began hosting the 2012 Olympic Ceremony and it was the most original and heartfelt one I've seen in a while. Sure, it was long and for some it was "time consuming" or "not thrilling," but I loved it. I watched the whole thing from start to finish.

Every opening ceremony is different because its supposed to describe what's important to your country. For London, it was their history. They went from back when they started farming and trading goods to the industrial transformation, where factories shot higher and higher from the ground, releasing synthetic smoke that looked and smelled like smoke, but wasn't actually. Later into the ceremony, J.K. Rowling started reading a from a book and characters from common stories- like Voldemort from Harry Potter- appeared in blown-up balloon form. I liked that part a lot.

Guess who also made a guest appearance? Mary Poppins, but not really. Actual nurses that work in hospitals were dressed as Mary Poppins and floating down from the sky. In London, there is free health insurance and health is very important to people of London. Near the end, Paul McCartney sang and that pretty much wrapped up the entertainment. I hope no one missed this, because it was great!

Well, ta-ta for now!

#5: Sephora Streak- The Good and The Bad

So recently, I bought a bundle of SEPHORA products and I'd like to start by saying that there is a weekly special where you can buy a Full-Size Eye Shadow Quad by Smashbox, a $22 value, for only $10. Anyways, I would like to write a review on a few of the products I bought that seemed to work nicely, and some not so nicely. Commençons!

Flowerbomb Perfume by Viktor & Rolf
This perfume is just amazing. Its fragrance is delicious and somehow makes you feel more confident. Even at the price of $105, this perfume is completely worth it! Its a good value, smells heavenly, is travel-friendly, and floral. The only downside is that this scent was pretty strong so I only allowed myself a few spritzes at a time. Nonetheless, best perfume I bought in a while. It was so amazing, I decided to buy more from this spectacular collection.

Flowerbomb Cream by Viktor & Rolf
This cream is also a fantastic product. The only thing that bugs me is that it is heavily floral scented and I'm not a big fan of smelling like I bathed in this scent all morning. Its too much for my little nose to handle. I'm a bit disappointed that I spent $90 on this product. Its great, but just a little bit too much for me.
Philosophy Cabana Girl Guava Coconut Body Collection
Three words: BEST. PURCHASE. EVER. The shower gel/bubble bath was very tropical and fruity and it wasn't too strong a scent at all. After I used it, I didn't even need to spray perfume because this scent was just delicious! The body lotion was even better because it was really fruity and it was just so relaxing. Its my #1 favorite scent of the summer! The body lotion is $24 and the shower gel/bubble bath is $16 all for a total of $40. This is a highly recommended product!

These are my lovely reviews and I hope you buy 1 or 2 of these products because they are really amazing. Ciao!

#4: Cosmetic Bag

Before I start, I would like to send a thank you to Autumn Angelettie, the creator of Aisles of Beauty because she spoke about me on her beauty blog and thanked me for recommending her. She is a FABULOUS beauty blogger and she is one of a kind. You should absolutely follow her work.

Now back to the post.

A cosmetic bag is a small handbag that contains important makeup used for multiple occasions. Every girl needs to have their cosmetic bag filled with all the essentials one could use in any situation. It took me some time to go through all my makeup and beauty products, but I finally figured it all out. First things first, your going to need a proper bag.

1. Cosmetic Bag
Cosmetic Bags can be any size, but you want to shoot for a small to medium sized bag so that it can fit into a purse, and large cosmetic bags simply can't be very inconspicuous. Also, getting a bag with multiple compartments really helps to separate lip glosses from mascara.

2. Concealer
Concealer is an important item in your cosmetic bag, because if you get a sudden rash or blemish on your cheek or chin, concealer will cover it right up and your skin will be flawless!

3. Lipgloss

Lip gloss is an essential product that should be used to make your lips shine and glisten in the spotlight wherever you are. Lip gloss is perfect for any occasion like casual shopping spree or a fancy dinner. Trust me, this is perfect for a little extra glam.

4. Lipstick
Every cosmetic bag needs lipstick and every girl has their special color and in order to dazzle the audience, you need to magnify it by wearing the perfect lipstick to match it. Don't ever leave home without it! You never know when you might need it! If you aren't sure what your lipstick color is, just go to http://www.totalbeauty.com/content/quizzes/lip-color-quiz.

5. Eyeshadow
It's a bit more complicated picking out the perfect eyeshadows to put in your cosmetic bag. It took me like half an hour to debate all the different situations I could be in where I would need a certain color eyeshadow. So I resorted to my clothes. I look good in cool colors like blues and purples but never, EVER green. Euh. So I put a palette of cool eyeshadow colors in my cosmetic bag. When picking out eyeshadows, it is always good to take a good look at the clothes you'll be wearing them with.

6. Mascara

I love mascara and I used to splurge on it all the time until one of the beauty blogs I follow made me think that it was a bad idea to splurge on mascara. They introduced me to NYC Show Time Volumizing Mascara and it's completely inexpensive!!!! I am in love with this mascara and its prefect in separating you lashes and is a must-have in any cosmetic bag!!!

7. Nail Polish Pens
With a few clicks of this Color Quick pen, the brush at the tip of the pen will be filled with nail polish that applies smoothly and dries quickly. Its great for emergencies and it comes in many different colors so you'll never have to worry about not having the right color for your outfit again! This is needed for your cosmetic bag.

8. Clear Nail Polish
I don't care where your going or what your doing, but you will always need your clear nail polish handy. Its perfect to apply over the color quick pens so it will last longer, and it always adds shine to your nail which makes them look more sophisticated. I ALWAYS have clear nail polish in my cosmetic bag. Get one A.S.A.P!!!

Don't forget to add brushes in your cosmetic bag so that you can apply your makeup! Well that is everything you need to have in your cosmetic bag and if you want, you can get a little creative and add extra things that help you cope in emergencies. Tell me what's in your cosmetic bag by emailing me at guru4fashion@gmail.com.

You know you love me.

#3: Lip Of The Day: Dream- Shimmer Lip Gloss by e.l.f.

This e.l.f. product is wild-tastic and leaves your lips glimmering in the sun. When you apply it, there is a cool sensation over your lips and leaves them looking amazing. This shimmer gloss is great for parties or just going to the mall with your girlfriends.

I liked this product so much, I bought two others from the collection; Love and Believe. Love is a deep raspberry color, Believe is a tan color, and Dream is a light pink-ish orange color. I love them all!

If you need inexpensive but quality makeup, I would but e.l.f. products and New York Color. But if you want to go all out and splurge on makeup, then Sephora will make you pop and dazzle (and make everyone in the room jealous ;)

And that, my friends, is the Lip Of The Day.

~ Fashion Guru ~

P.S. You can buy this shimmer gloss for only $1.00 at most mini markets like Walgreens, CVS, Rite Aid, etc. This lip gloss is in a skinny tube so it may run out fast if you use it too often, but if you only use it once a day, then it could last for a month. The great thing about this product is that you can buy 3 tube of this lip gloss for only $3.00! Trust me, its a pretty great deal!

#2: Closet Reflection

First, I would like to say that I'm sorry for not posting yesturday but I'm a busy gal, so I'll do two posts today. I think that's how I'll be doing things now. Every other day I'll post two articles. Sound like a plan?

So back to the post.

The way you keep your closet shows a lot about the person and their fashion sense or social standing. My closet is split into four sections~ one for every season~ and in each section, I separate my clothes by article of clothing and by color. My closet is  extremely organized and I even have a section for scarves, belts, and shoes. With my closet this way, it shows that I am a perfectionist and that I like everything to have its place. This also shows that when picking outfits, I like to make sure that the colors are balanced and I have a little bit of everything in my outfit, but not something like a color riot.

Most people I know just put all their bottoms in one corner and tops in another, which can make it very difficult to pick out stylish outfits fast and easy. The point I'm trying to make is that your close is a reflection of who you are. If everything is messy, it might mean that your unorganized, lay, or just really busy, but there are many ways to categorize your closet reflection.

Send me pictures of your closet and tell me what you think your closet reflection is. Send them to guru4fashion@gmail.com with the subject "Closet Reflection." I'm looking forward to finding out who my readers are!

You know you love me.

This isn't my closet, its just an example I got from modestiablog.com

#1: Season Spree- July

Season Spree is all about helping my readers make all their clothes stylish, no matte what the season is. You can check the page "Season Spree" for more information.

I'd like to apologize for not posting this yesterday, but I was fairly busy with a lot of stuff and I'm just glad I have enough time this morning to write and post this.

This is the first post in the first series of "Season Spree." I would like you to gather all of your worst summer tees, shorts, accessories, etc, and spread them out. I'm going to help you turn them from drab to fab. Let's begin!

1. Get a shirt from your pile that has a fairly okay design on it.
2. Choose an accessory, like a belt or bracelet, that has a solid color and no design.
3. Combine these with a pair of shorts, pants, or a skirt, but it must be a solid color and have no designs.

Here is an example outfit:

 This outfit works perfectly together.

I really hope you enjoyed this little added segment. See? Its just that simple. I just took three boring clothing items, combined them, and made them look better than before, I want all of my readers to try this and send me photos to guru4fashion@gmail.com. Have fun in the sun!
